Hi everyone I am here to teach you how to grind efficiently in RO2 or in basically every mmo ever.
What is grinding?
Grinding is when you do something over and over again, in most games it would most likely be leveling by killing mobs or leveling up job exp like gathering.
LOL NOOB WHY WOULD YOU GRIND? L2QUEST
While it is true questing gives more exp and is less boring than grinding, sometimes it is just not efficient at all, or some games have nearly no quest at late game. To give you an example here is a game that I used to play (Name will be redacted so I will refer to it as "GRINDFEST") below is the exp table for the said game, I will underline the significant levels that actually makes you have an impact on pvp. For the sake of simplicity lets say it is split between 5 brackets. This was a pvp oriented game and going past 2 brackets past your current level usually means it is next to impossible trying to said person you are fighting unless you are within the 80+ bracket.
Level 1 = 0

Level 100= 14,752,140,474
blah blah blah... a bunch of numbers this doesn't say anything, a bunch of numbers boring.
back then When I used to play, realistically 92 was the highest you could get unless you were willing to commit to about 4 months of 24 hour days to get from 92-100. Some people like myself think its not that much of a tradeoff to get almost double the exp to hit the next bracket.
[I]I assume the start isn't that bad or no one would play this game/I]
Your assumption would be correct, lets say you can do as many quest as you want (not repeatable of course)until level 70 for reference here is the exp you are at again
Level 70 = 80,418,568
Assuming you want to hit 70 and stop grinding forever, its actually not that hard, however, if you plan to get to the cut-off of the next major bracket at 86 which is Level 86 = 1,165,913,653
you would need 1,085,495,085 exp (1,165,913,653-80,418,568=1,085,495,085)
Now here is when people either quit the game, or are grinding what seems to be forever.
at here is all the missions from 70-85 since you are trying to grind to 86 so you can't do the 86 mission for that exp
70=4,000,000
72=5,700,000
74=8,240,000
76=11,900,000
79=20,500,000
82=35,420,000
85=61,200,000
so you get a total of 146,960,000 from your missions starting at 70 (4,000,000+5,700,000+8,240,000+11,900,000+20,500,0 00+35,420,000+61,200,000)
Now lets look at the exp table again from level 70, you are at 80,418,568 trying to get to 1,165,913,653 which means you need 1,085,495,085 exp regardless of you save your mission or not. Counting your exp from missions you "only" need 938,535,085 exp. Here is where the real issue begins: You get around 10,000 exp max per mob, meaning you would need, 93853.5085 mobs, and since you can't kill half of a mob you have kill 93,854 mobs.
whatever, its just kill mobs
lets say on average it takes you about 40 seconds to kill the mob, it would take you 62569.33333333333 minutes killing all those mobs. Convert that some more you are looking at 1042.822222222222 hours of pure grinding, almost 44 days of 24 hour days grinding the mobs. This is also on another assumption of you being able to kill mobs just by purely right clicking and it instantly re spawns, which obviously does not happen. As you can see regardless of how you want to get to 86 from 70 it is going to take you at least 44 24 hour days. All of these fall under another premise of you being the only person on the map, which again obviously isn't true.
So lets recap here since it has converted to a wall of text
It would take you at least 44 24 hour days under a perfect environment
Wait what does all this have to do with questing?
At level 85 you are at 974,652,918 and you are trying to get to 1,165,913,653. Which is 191,260,735 exp. Now lets say you did your quest already of 61,200,000 exp you now need to grind out 130,060,735 exp. converting that to time of the "perfect environment" would take you 13,006.0735 mobs, then assuming again 40 second per mob is 520,242.94 second>8670.715666666667 min>144.5119277777778 hour>6.021330324074074 days.
Now lets try this again if you never did your quest at 70, you still need 191,260,735 exp but you got 146,960,000 exp from your quest. Then you only need 44,300,735 exp which converted again by the same premises is 4430.0735 mobs>177202.94 seconds>2953.382333333333 minutes>49.22303888888889 hours>2.050959953703704 days
Now if you saved your quest you only had to grind 2~3 days under the perfect sandboxed environment, in comparison to if you did your quest like normal people you would need 6~7 days at least.
What does this have to do with Ragnarok or every other grindfest?
Like all other games, this game also has quest, but what I have realized is some people are dying over and over again trying to finish that one quest, while if they just either grinded it out or came back when they were a bit stronger, that exp is still there and would have been a much more efficient use of their time.
tl;dr: if you can't finish your quest, just grind mobs or if you planned out your exp gain from quests you can probably hit from 49-50 or whatever level you are trying to get to in other games just by finishing all the quest from before
